Toyota Broadens Lineup of Sedans With AWD

All-Wheel Drive is pretty common these days. You don’t have to buy a full-size, truck-like SUV to get your hands on a car that can grip the road in hazardous conditions. Toyota is at the forefront of the movement towards AWD. The brand recently added more nameplates to the list of sedans with AWD, including the popular, affordable Toyota Camry.

A Few “Firsts”

The last time Toyota tried to add AWD to the Camry was in 1991, so this marks the first time a Toyota Camry with AWD will be available in almost 30 years. The other nameplate getting an AWD system this year is the Toyota Avalon. It will be the first time ever the Avalon has offered the option of an AWD system. Drivers will have the option of both of these sedans with a more confident ride in 2020.

Adapted From the RAV4

Not all AWD systems are created equal. That’s why Toyota waited until they had the best — and smartest — system for the job. The next-generation RAV4 boasts a brand-new AWD system. Termed “Dynamic Torque Control AWD,” the RAV4’s drivetrain is engineered to optimize fuel economy without reducing its traction in inclement weather conditions. The system on the Toyota Avalon and Toyota Camry will be the same one.

At Robbins Toyota, we’re incredibly excited to now be able to offer the popular Toyota Camry with AWD, an oft-requested feature. Call us to learn more about how AWD can benefit you and get behind the wheel of a new Camry AWD!
