Toyota is constantly at the forefront of introducing new technologies to the automotive world. However, Toyota is also introducing innovative new ideas outside this realm as well.
One such idea is a new prototype city of the future that Toyota is working to create at the base of Mount Fuji in Japan.
While a fully functioning city in its own right, this prototype city, dubbed Woven City, will be much smaller than most modern metropolises, measuring 175 acres in total. Still, it will have all the amenities of a modern city, plus some advanced new innovations that you wouldn’t find anywhere else.
Its citizenship will also be comprised of a much different demographic than most cities. After all, it will be almost entirely populated by researchers and scientists in the process of creating new technologies. These scientists will not only be from Toyota, but outside commercial partners and organizations as well.
“We welcome all those inspired to improve the way we live in the future, to take advantage of this unique research ecosystem and join us in our quest to create an ever-better way of life and mobility for all,” explains Akio Toyoda, president of the Toyota Motor Corporation.
