Tips for Transporting a Christmas Tree

Tips for Safely Transporting a Christmas Tree - Robbins Toyota - Mt. Pleasant, TX

A Christmas tree is the perfect way to make your holidays bright this year, but they can be difficult to transport. Not only are trees large, but they also shed needles and can drip sap onto your vehicle. Toyota crossovers, SUVs, and trucks like the RAV4, Highlander, and Tacoma are great options for safely transporting a Christmas tree.

Whether you’re staying around Nash, Texas, this year or driving out of state for the holidays, transporting a tree doesn’t have to be difficult. First, make sure you’ve got the right vehicle and equipment. If you’ve got a Toyota RAV4, Highlander, or Tacoma, for example, you’re off to a good start. From there’ you’ll need to bring a tarp, rope, a tree net (ask the tree salesman), and bungee cords for your tree.

Positioning the tree properly is key to getting it home safely. The trunk of the tree should be facing the hood, with the branches secured and pointing to the rear of the vehicle. This will make the ride more aerodynamic, reducing the risk of the tree falling off. Be sure to anchor the tree just above the bottom branches.

If you want to transport a tree inside the vehicle, just be sure to put a tarp down to make cleanup easier. Not only will this prevent pine needles from getting everywhere, but it will also prevent sap from ruining the upholstery.

Need some tips and tricks for transporting your Christmas tree? Or how about the right vehicle and accessories for the job? Robbins Toyota in Nash can help. Give us a call and we’ll set you up with a test drive in a new Toyota that’s perfect for hauling your handsome evergreen.

Packing Tips For Your Spring Break Road Trip

spring break road trip - Robbins Toyota - Nash, TX

Going somewhere? Check out these spring break road trip tips before going on your big vacation!

Match your clothes

It’s easier to cut down on clothes when all your apparel matches. If your family’s shirts, dresses, bottoms, and shoes can be mixed and matched into different outfits, you can reduce the space needed in your luggage for clothes.

Remember beach necessities

Going to the coast? Pack multiple bathing suits (because no one likes putting a damp suit back on), beachside snacks, water bottles, pool toys, and — most importantly — sunscreen. Not going to the beach? Bring sunscreen anyway.

Bring chargers

These days, phones do all the legwork on long car rides. It’s where you keep your GPS, your road trip playlist, mobile games, photos, and apps that show you nearby gas and hotel prices. Make sure your phone is charged so you don’t lose access. Your passengers might also have things like an eReader, tablet, or portable gaming devices, so gather all of them up, make sure they’re charged, and bring chargers.

Travel comfortable and take breaks

This isn’t so much a packing tip as a travel tip. You might be tempted to wear jeans in the car, but you’d be better off wearing a comfortable t-shirt and pajama pants. Additionally, it’s important to take breaks every one or two hours to stretch your legs.

Remember, your road trip can also be twice as enjoyable in the right vehicle. Visit Robbins Toyota to take a look at some of Toyota’s most family-friendly and road-trip-friendly SUVs, crossovers and minivans!

Toyota Is Creating a Prototype City of the Future

city of the future - Robbins Toyota - Nash, TX

Toyota is constantly at the forefront of introducing new technologies to the automotive world. However, Toyota is also introducing innovative new ideas outside this realm as well.

One such idea is a new prototype city of the future that Toyota is working to create at the base of Mount Fuji in Japan.

While a fully functioning city in its own right, this prototype city, dubbed Woven City, will be much smaller than most modern metropolises, measuring 175 acres in total. Still, it will have all the amenities of a modern city, plus some advanced new innovations that you wouldn’t find anywhere else.

Its citizenship will also be comprised of a much different demographic than most cities. After all, it will be almost entirely populated by researchers and scientists in the process of creating new technologies. These scientists will not only be from Toyota, but outside commercial partners and organizations as well.

“We welcome all those inspired to improve the way we live in the future, to take advantage of this unique research ecosystem and join us in our quest to create an ever-better way of life and mobility for all,” explains Akio Toyoda, president of the Toyota Motor Corporation.

If you’d like to learn more about what other innovations Toyota is currently working on, then you can always visit Robbins Toyota and speak with our very own staff of experts.

Spring is just around the corner, and so is spring cleaning. Here are some ideas for making your car look fresh and clean for spring.

Give it a once over

The first step is to get remove anything that doesn’t belong in the car. This includes toys, clothing, junk mail or any other clutter that you’ve been chauffeuring around. Gather up the things you want to keep and stuff the rest in a trash bag. Now you can start cleaning. Remove the floor mats and vacuum them, then vacuum the entire interior of the car, including the ceiling. Now wipe down the dashboard with a soft cloth and mild soap. Don’t forget to wipe the door panels and frames with an all-purpose cleaner. At this point, your car will look great, but don’t stop there.

Pay attention to the upholstery

If you and the kids eat in the car, there are probably stain on the upholstery. You can treat them with a stain remover from the auto parts store. Follow package directions. If you have leather seats, it is a good idea to invest in some quality leather cleaner.

Work some magic

The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser sponge is truly magical when it comes to removing scuff marks in the interior of the car. Gently rub them away. Finally, get those windows sparkling clean.
